FAQs Of RF Cables

What is a RF cable used for?

Radio frequency cable is a kind of common microwave signal transmission line, which has the advantages of wide frequency band, excellent electrical performance, bendable and easy-to-use. It is widely used in instrument, wireless communication and microwave communication system.

What is the difference between RF cable and coaxial cable?

Coaxial cable is the structure classification, RF cable is the use classification. Coaxial cable refers to the cable composed of inner and outer conductors with the same axis, which means the structure of the cable; RF cable is the cable that transmits electromagnetic energy within the RF range, and RF cable is an indispensable component in various radio communication systems and electronic equipment, which means the purpose of the cable.

What is a coaxial cable?

Coaxial cable refers to the cable composed of inner and outer conductors with the same axis, which refers to the section structure of the cable. As long as the cable core and outer conductor are in a concentric axis, they are coaxial cables.

What is the difference between 50 ohm and 75 ohm coax cable?

    ①Different in main use:

75 Ω coaxial cable is commonly used in video circuit CATV network, so it is called CATV cable. The transmission bandwidth can reach 1GHz. At present, the transmission bandwidth of commonly used CATV cable is 750MHz.

50 Ω coaxial cable is mainly used for baseband signal transmission, and the transmission bandwidth is 1 ~ 20MHz. Bus Ethernet uses 50 Ω coaxial cable. In Ethernet, the maximum transmission distance of 50 Ω thin coaxial cable is 185m, and that of thick coaxial cable can reach 1000m.

    ②Different in structure:

50 Ω and 75 Ω refer to two different cables with characteristic impedances of 50 Ω and 75 Ω, so the structural design of cables is also different, which needs to be calculated according to different impedance calculation formulas. For example, for cables of the same diameter and material, the core wire thickness of 50 Ω and 75 Ω is different

What is RG223 coaxial cable used for?

RG223 cable is suitable for the test connection of common RF microwave products and the connection between instruments. RG223 cable has the advantages of light weight, good flexibility and small attenuation.
