Base Station Reverberation Chamber

The reverberation chamber is an electrically large metal shielding chamber, including several metal agitators, positioner, reference antenna, measuring antenna and control system. When the reference antenna emits electromagnetic wave signal, the signal will be reflected by the metal wall and agitator for many times. Through the continuous or step rotation of the stirrer, the reflection boundary conditions of the cavity are changed, and then a statistically uniform, isotropic and randomly polarized electromagnetic environment is formed in the cavity. Traditionally, reverberation room is mainly used in EMC testing field, and it has been gradually used in OTA testing of wireless devices in recent 20 years.

Base station reverberation room test system is mainly used to complete the base station transmission consistency test, including output power, ACLR and parasitic transmission parameters. The traditional test method is completed by conduction, that is, the antenna port of the base station is directly connected with the spectrum analyzer through a RF cable. However, with the application of massive MIMO in the base station and the increasing integration of antenna and RF front-end, the conduction test becomes more and more difficult, even impossible. In view of this situation, 3GPP ts38.141-2 proposes an alternative method to pass the air port test.

Compared with the traditional anechoic chamber test method, the scheme based on reverberation chamber has obvious advantages in test efficiency and cost performance. When the electromagnetic field inside the reverberation chamber reaches good statistical uniformity, the test accuracy is comparable to that of the traditional anechoic chamber. Therefore, more and more base station users begin to use reverberation room to complete the transmission consistency test.

Hbte-R83A is a new OTA test system for base station transmission conformance test. It has the industry-leading test performance, covering the frequency range from 400MHz to 67ghz. It supports 5g NR TPR / ACLR / spurious emissions test and antenna efficiency test in accordance with ts38.141-2 specification. R83A has excellent shielding effectiveness. The shielding effectiveness in sub-6g and FR2 bands can reach 100dB and 80dB respectively, which is an important prerequisite for accurate testing of Ota active parameters. The test accuracy of r83a has reached the leading level in the industry, and the Trp / ACLR test accuracy is within 0.5dB (typical value), which provides a strong reference for RRU certification test.

R83A system test software has a very friendly UI interface, which can be compatible with many brands of vector network analyzer and spectrum analyzer to complete system calibration and RRU test. It is very flexible and convenient to use. Users can directly load the predefined configuration files that meet the standards, or configure the corresponding parameters as needed in the custom mode. After the test is completed, the software will automatically generate the test report.

Advantage

  • R83A has wider working frequency range and stronger universality

  • The diameter of the positioner is up to 1m, which can bear 100kg weight and has more effective test space;

  • It supports the function of safety lock, and can be tested only when the door of reverberation room is closed, so as to ensure that the testers are free from the harm of high-power radiation.
